The whole sphere through all thetracks is amazing and pretty environmental. However i was expecting to hear some IF-ish environmental sounds/percussions in the second part of the album cause the 'arabian' theme. Still the environment is somethingyou can dive into. Trevor, what do you think of the rhythm in silk part 1 and 2? Especially the rhythm in part 2 cought my attention, wonderful bass working. And yes, lot listenings needed for sure.
Everyone had it´s expectations for this album and so did I. Trevor was right
saying not to expect the next Wired, in terms of emotional impact. In general
I was pretty unimpressed when listening to the parts for the first time. I
was hoping for more beats and shifts in sphere.
However, what you do get is one big evolving piece. I can´t help but comparing
this to ´A Day in the Live´. Of course the beat is reminiscent but apart from
that the music is so spontaneous in Silk and A Day. They both build up in a similar
way, I only miss the encore on Silk... Heheh that would have been great to hear
that awesome beat again.
An other reference is The Art of Love for it´s environmental ambience. Feeling
really deep and intuitive. Same for the last 2 parts on Silk.
All in all, the best thing about this new record is that it gets better with each
listening. Something I can´t say for the last Namlook album, Subconcious Worlds.
Cheers,
