Oh, no argument from me on that !
What I meant was that while encoding in MP3, you might as well use some 
tried and tested settings that can actually do a pretty darn good job 
instead of just go "all in" and encode "Silence" (8th track on "1 Year 
Ambient" - not sure where it's from originally) in 320kbps.

But comparing even decent encoded MP3s to the raw CD signal, especially in 
ambient music where small details matters, is not fair when you have a good 
sound system. You can definitely hear a difference (using iPod factory plugs 
in another story though :) )
