Agreed. I was just posting that little quote from an
old Tetsu interview as an example of 'never say never'
-- Inoue was burnt out on 'old-school' ambient -- he
messed around with more glitchy stuff... after a while
maybe THAT became an empty style in some ways too,
with emo bands throwing in little clicks and squiggles
the same way rock bands would throw some drum and bass
into their mixes during the 90s. Anybody see Ricky
Gervais' hilarious routine from a certain episode of
The Office where he makes fun of this?

I like the idea of blending some of the more
understated features of glitch/microsound with the
melodic aspects of Inoue's older work. Haven't gotten
the new disc yet, but I imagine Tetsu may have used
some of his new tricks when working with Namlook.
Change can be good and while the real challenging,
newer Inoue stuff was very interesting, it always
ended up getting quickly filed away in my
collection... and then sold. I still have Waterloo
Terminal. I think Field Tracker w/ Deutsch and Yolo
are both great examples of combining the '90s with th
'00s. Love those discs!

Yikes! This is a long post -- my morning coffee just
kicked in.
Fingers are flying :-)

Best,
John
