I might add, though, that Audio Hijack does not compress audio unless you tell 
it to.  You can record pure audio (as good as the source) using that program.

I've used Audio Hijack before, and similar programs elsewhere. Useful to some extent, until you realize the fact that if what you're playing is compressed, and you record it, then compress it more... well, you get the idea. Not the smartest way to get a "good" copy of the audio.
