(fax) "back up" copies and ebay

Dave - I think it looks totally dodgy - and I understand where you're
coming from.

I don't mean to excuse anyone's behaviour, especially if they're
breaking the rules - just that as a person who's seen the misguided
force of an eBay complaint before, I'm just saying that I would probably
give the benefit of the doubt. In your position with the label, I would
probably be less charitable about it.

In this case, much like the "promo" copies that found their way online
in the past, it looks pretty unlikely that this is legit. I've lost/had
stolen cases before leaving me with CD's and having to get another copy
(out of compulsion), but I agree, that's a real long shot. But with
someone like this who has that much positive feedback to do this would
be truly dumb on their part - I mean selling a cheap Ars Nova knock-off
or something would be one thing you might do unwittingly, but this -
especially since I've seen exactly such a listing before (assumedly from
this guy) - seems a bit much.

Anyhow, I've buggered my signal to noise ratio on the list this week, so
I'm going to shut up about it. ;)
