Having administrated more than a few Oracle RDBMSs in my day (starting
with Oracle 7 on Irix in '96), I'd say that 95% of the uses I saw for
Oracle could easily be replicated by MySQL or PostgreSQL. Maybe not in
1995, but in 2005 -- definitely. Oracle is mostly a lot of hype and lot
of features that almost nobody uses. When someone says "Enterprise
Scalability", that's when I reach for my gun.

Oh, and I listened to FAX CDs almost exclusively at the time I was
installing and learning Oracle for the first time ;-)
