I will join Jeff in blowing the geek-science theory. I have a B.A. and M.A. in German Literature and Film, and a J.D. aka law degree. I minored in Russian, and wallowed in 19th-20th century European philosophy and the history of ideas. Along the way I played a lot of rock and roll guitar, and never fooled around with test tubes, auto mechanics or electronic kits. But sci fi does connect with my FAX jones. My earliest passion for reading (beginning around 10) was 1950s adult science fiction and dystopian fiction. For me, FAX music re-awakens in me the mystery and wonder I experienced while engrossed in those. I must add that I am painfully aware of the mathematical skills (which I lack) required to create electronic music. I am humbly grateful to those musicians like PK who have the vision of the infinite and also understand the science needed to create these awesome musical trips.

technically, philosophy is related to everything - but is not the same, nor does it always attract the same students.
