I do something different.  I have a database and it would store ASA2 as:

project: Aerial Service Area
projectversion: 2
title: 150 G Space Weight
titleversion: 1

And I do sorting in that field order.  Works out great so far, but
doesn't really apply to any other label besides wacky FAX!
